OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…or so it is for The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma’s Women’s Auxiliary.

On July 1, the Women’s Auxiliary distributed countertop red kettles to area businesses to collect donations for Buck$ 4 Bikes, an annual fundraiser to help purchase bicycles for children participating in The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma’s Angel Tree program.

Many children dream of a bike for Christmas and the auxiliary wants to help make this dream a reality.

The Buck$ 4 Bikes program was founded in 2006 and has provided 11,881 children, residing in our community, with bicycles raising over $503,000.

Every penny donated to this cause will go to the purchase of a new Huffy bicycle with prices ranging from $50 to $113. “The increasing costs of purchasing a bike, plus the current demand, show we will need to raise approximately $100,000 to meet all requests made by families this year”, said Major Paula Powell, area commander for The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma. “We ask the community to rally around this fundraiser to help us purchase as many bikes as needed to fulfill every child’s Christmas wish”.

To make a donation, please visit one of the following locations or send a gift to The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma, Attn: Women’s Auxiliary, 1001 N Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73107 (memo line: B4B):
