The Salvation Army Boy’s Club, originally located at 311 SW 5th Street in Oklahoma City, opened in 1950 to provide children with recreation, education, spiritual and character development opportunities.
Today, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club serves families and children ages 6-18 during out of school time on the southeast side of Oklahoma City at 2808 SE 44th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73129 (one block west of Bryant Avenue on SE 44th street).
The mission of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens”.
Our programming focuses on the core areas of: academic success, healthy lifestyles, character and leadership development. We also offer enhancement activities such as art, dance, music instruction, photography, team sports, STEM projects, spiritual development, community involvement, and more. Additionally, we provide snacks and meals to every Club member, every day, due to a partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
In August 2020, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma City was recognized as a Community Hope Center by the State of Oklahoma. We are currently operating full day programming, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm) at NO COST to families thus enabling youth ages 6-18 to bring their school issued device to the Club to receive assistance in completing their remote learning and participate in our enhancement programs.
In addition to being available for all day virtual or remote learning, we are partnering with other agencies in order to address food insecurity, provide support for emotional and behavioral health needs, connect families to resources, and ensure the safety of children and families, while incorporating the Science of HOPE into our work.
