Tornadoes. Hurricanes. Earthquakes. Bombings. Terrorist Attacks. Natural Disasters. Where ever a disaster occurs, The Salvation Army is there to lend a shoulder to cry on, a hand to lift up, food for the hungry, water for the thirsty and hope for all who have lost everything.
The impacts of disaster vary greatly with type, location, severity and overall extent of an incident or disaster declaration.
Tornadoes, wildfires, winter storms and floods can devastate large areas and impact many residents for extended periods of time. Providing mass care and feeding operations is the primary responsibility of The Salvation Army, as is indicated by Emergency Support Function #6, (ESF-6) of The City of Oklahoma City Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). In concert with other agencies, we provide a variety of resources based upon individual client need.
Regardless of the type of emergency, having trained personnel, equipment and supplies ready for deployment is critical.
